Made in 1940. This rifle in .257 Roberts is scarce in a standard model. The carbine model was only available from 1936-46. Aside from the 20" barrel, all other parts are interchangeable with a standard rifle such as sights and stock. The bolt on this rifle has matching etched serial number. Being a pre-War model, the frame has the stripper clip cut for loading. The rear sight slot has a filler and a Lyman receiver sight has been installed. The pistol grip walnut stock is standard as is the checkered steel buttplate. 20" number 3 barrel. There is no record as to how many of the rifles in this caliber were made in the carbine version between 1936-46 but you can guess that it was a small percentage of total making the carbine version extremely scarce. CONDITION: The condition is also superb with at least 98% original factory finish and just some light handling marks over-all. Fine bore and action. From the Mel Hrubetz collection.
