This was one of the last 230 Colt Single Action Army revolvers made in 1940 when production stopped on account of the war. It is a 5 - 1/2" barrel .45 caliber. It was masterfully engraved in full coverage D grade vine and scroll pattern with gold inlay buffalo and horned buck on left side, horse and rider at top of back-strap with bear and bobcat on right side. The frame, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder flutes have gold outline. The sides of the hammer are jeweled. The two piece ivory grips have the American eagle with shield on both panels. The top of the hammer is fire blue. The gun is finished in full blue. CONDITION: The bore and action are near mint. Gun appears unfired since custom work was performed. Vast majority of custom finish but may have a handling mark. The gold images are true and the engraving is that of a master craftsman. This is one outstanding pre-War embellished revolver. Comes displayed in a modern walnut Colt branded display case that is french fitted in green lining.
