Lot consists of: four eagle pommel swords ca. 1805-1825. (A) brass hilt and bras grip eagle pommel with spadroon blade and brass scabbard. Flat, floral cast knucklebow forms and open victory wreath at top that is held in the eagle's beak. Grip is smooth, engraved on obverse with crossed lances with pennants and large circular wreath. Languettes have raised eagle with US shield on its chest. Palmette terminal to quillon. Blade blue and gilt for twelve inches. Scabbard engraved with floral elements, cuirass and sword in wreath at top, American eagle with US shield and motto ribbon, with vine running below toward drag with oval shield at the midpoint. CONDITION: Good. Nice age patina to hilt and scabbard. Rubbing to blue and gilt. Split to brass at drag on reverse scabbard. Light traces of silver wash. (B) Spadroon blade, five-ball pommel hilt. Oval reeded bone grip. Blue panel blade with etched motifs. CONDITION: Good to very good. Hilt with traces of gilt. Good grip. Tight hilt. No blade pad. Blade with good edge and point, grey with dark grey staining and rubbing to blue obscuring floral and martial motifs that still have gilt fill and are visible. (C) Brass hilt and faceted brass cylindrical grip, with flat brass knuckle and counterguard. Primitive crested eagle head somewhat in the Prahl fashion cast integrally with the grip. Saber blade with narrow fuller along upper edge with deep running horse and 1805 date at midpoint. CONDITION: Very good. Nice age patina to hilt and forceful eagle head. Blade is dark with small edge chips and one 2" section on lower edge with some delamination, but an impressive saber. (D) Oval reeded bone grips. Knuckleguard with angled channels. Flat open counterguard with same edge treatment. Blue and gilt blade with floral motifs and "Warranted" in scroll at bottom obverse. Panoply of arms with liberty cap above. CONDITION: Good to very good. A few tiny nicks to blade edge. Some rubbing to blue, but gold inlay intact. Blade grey with dark grey and some brown spotting. Traces of gilt on hilt. A nice group of American eagle pommel swords and sabers. SR
