Lot consists of: (A) Knight's Head Pommel Officer's Sword with Scabbard. Circa 1821-1850. Straight single edged and single fullered blade decorated on both sides with etched foliate scrolls and patriotic motifs. Brass hilt with relief cast eagle on on guard and knight's head pommel. Mother of Pearl grip scales with twisted brass wire accents. Complete with its original brass scabbard with repousse decorations. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with some scattered darker grey spotting and some high edge wear. Brass has been polished overall and shows some light marks from carrying. Pearl grips shows some very minor chips. (B) Knight's Head Pommel Militia Officer's Sword with Scabbard. Plain tapered double edged blade. Cast brass hilt with crossguard and shell decorated languettes. Knight's head pommel. Bone grip decorated with panels of large checkering. Complete with original brown leather scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade polished and showing minor marks and spotting. Hilt retains a very dark patina. Grip excellent. Scabbard shows some minor flaking and damage near drag, mounts unpolished. A very nice lot of attractive American swords. DMG. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
