It was not until recently that the definitive meaning of the “Ch.d.A.” cartouche was identified and verified from original Mauser sales records. In the fall of 1934, Director Zillinger authorized sales to the head of the training system of the SA leadership - the Chef des Ausbildungswesens der obersten S.A. - Führung, or Ch.d.A. Ch.d.A. denotes the lead SA department in charge of equipping training detachments, and as such was involved in securing small arms for this purpose. This gun has the proper Ch.d.A. cartouche on the left side of the stock. Otherwise standard commercial gun with 1934 date and banner Mauser on receiver ring. All markings numbers. Brown leather sling appears original. Has "8MM" stamped on the left side of the barrel in between the straps of the front band, most likely an import marking. CONDITION: Retains 65% finish overall. All markings are clear. Wood has dings and handling marks. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. Sling is somewhat fragile and should be handled accordingly. GR
