Lot consists of: (A) US Model 1812-1813 Cavalry Saber by N. Starr, with scabbard. Standard configuration with curved, unfullered blade with clip point. Stamped "N. STARR" on right side of ricasso. Standard iron reverse 'P' hilt with birds head pommel and leather wrapped grip. Complete with original iron scabbard. CONDITION: Blade retains a dark mottled grey patina with scattered areas of pitting and a few nicks to edge. Marking excellent. Hilt retains a spotted grey patina and grip has dry leather with some minor losses. Scabbard retains a heavy brown patina with some denting. (B) US Contract Model 1818 Cavalry Saber by Starr. Standard configuration with right side of blade marked "US/P/LS/N. STARR". Complete with original black painted iron scabbard. CONDITION: Blade retains a bright surface with scattered grey areas and excellent markings, a few minor nicks to edge. Hilt retains a grey patina, grip retains most of original leather with one small area of loss on left side, near pommel. Scabbard retains about 70-80% original black finish with scattered scratches turned to brown patina, some shallow denting. A nice lot of Starr marked swords. DMG.
