Third quarter of the 18th century. Straight tapered single edged blade with a wide single fuller. Both sides decorated with etched foliate scrolls and stands of arms. The brass stirrup hilt has a guard with a three ball counterguard branch on the right side and a forward facing quillon. Three ball knuckle bow and early pillow pommel with capstan on top. Wooden turned grip with brass ferrule at base. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with some scattered dark spots and some nicks to edge. Hilt retains a dark mustard patina. Grip very good. A nice slender federal officer's sword. DMG. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
