Slightly curved English blade with wide shallow fuller and 8-1/2" false edge. Brass stirrup hilt with forward curved quillon and a circular piercing on front of guard. Brass pommel with integral backstrap gadrooned en suite with cherry grip. Complete with its original leather scabbard with brass throat mount. Leather decorated with cross-hatched designs. CONDITION: Blade has been cleaned and shows some pitting overall, heavier in some areas. Blade slightly bent to left. There are scattered nicks to the edge. Hilt is polished and retains a mellowing patina. Grip shows some minor chipping and age cracks. Scabbard is missing its drag and a portion of the leather at the tip. Brass mount shows some bending, stud is absent. A very nice cavalry saber dating to right after the Revolutionary War. DMG. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
