Basically an evolution of the Colt New Service revolver, made to replace the .38 caliber Model 1892 revolvers in US service. Made in 1911. This gun is well marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the bottom of the barrel. The butt of the grip features the markings "USN / (anchor) / 45DA / No. / 303". The right side of the frame has "AA" stamped into it below the cylinder. Most likely an arsenal rebuild mark, probably Augusta Arsenal. This gun was refurbished at some point and retains a parkerized type finish. Matching numbers. CONDITION: Retains 70% finish. Markings are clear. Plain wood grips have some dings and handling marks. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. GR
