Lot consists of: Two Civil War 1861 pattern infantry cartridge boxes, one with original full sling, one with partial, both with tins and box plates; one bullseye canteen; one bridle leather infantry belt with arrow-back US plate, three veterans' ribbons, and one button. (A) Infantry box. No markings visible. Box plate in place. Buckles flaps, straps in place. Latch tab broken. Very slight tear at upper right seam front of box body. Tins in place, one missing the tray divider. Remains of shoulder belt buckled in place, broken off along top edge of box. Minor rubs, scuffs and flexing to finish, but no flaking. (B) 1861 pattern box with bridle leather sling. Box plate and cartridge box sling plate in place. Tins in place, but dividers gone. Crackling to surface of box and to sling from flexing. Partial tear on sling near top edge of box, tear to edge 2" below sling plate extending halfway across. One or two weak spots from creasing. Both tears could be mended. Leather with some sort of leather dressing applied in the past leaving thin residue. Thongs in place on plates. Sling plate with old patina. Box plate a tad brighter. Extra slits and one missing thong indicate it might be a replacement. One side ear missing from inner flap. (C) Regulation 1858 pattern canteen with corrugated sides. Brown surface, but spout and brackets in place. (D) Infantry waist belt. Issue infantry belt with stamped brass oval US plate with solder fill and arrow style studs and fastening hook and C clasp retainer. Flaking to thin brown finish from flexing, but clear Haedrich maker mark and clear ordnance sub-inspector stamp, the latter with some flaking along the top, obscuring the inspector's name. Still, a very good belt. (E) Union Veterans Union (UVU) ribbon with RWB ribbon, crossed sabers on upper pin, crossed rifles and cannon with anchor on planchet. Very good. (F) Two ribbons for the Society of the Tennessee for the 43rd (1914) and the 44th (1916) reunions. Dark blue and light blue respectively with RWB and US flags added to tops. (G) excavated US general service eagle button from Folly Island, South Carolina. CONDITION: Good to very good overall as described. (SR)
