Lot consists of: (A) US 1840 pattern light artillery saber by Ames, dated 1862. Ames scroll address; US / 1862 on obverse ricasso. Inspector initials not visible. CONDITION Very good to Excellent. Wire is loose on the grip, but appears to be all there. Leather original, with wear to top and bottom edges. Nice even, aged patina to brass hilt. Blade bright with good edge and point, but minute gray spotting. Blade pad in place. Second type hilt without throat recess. Scabbard very good, smooth metal, toned brown at top, moving to gray mixed with dark gray toward bottom. Inspector mark "DR" on drag. (B) Reproduction of the rare Massachusetts marked 1832 pattern short sword dated 1839 with maker, inspector and state markings, along with a reproduction scabbard. CONDITION: Excellent. (C) 1816 pattern bayonet. US / TA marked at base of blade. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. In the bright with scattered graying. (D) .45-70 trapdoor bayonet in scabbard with NGP swivel rosette (National Guard Pennsylvania.) CONDITION: Good to very good. Bayonet with good blue, US stamp a bit light on right, some rubbing to blue on high spots from sheathing. Metal scabbard with flaking to black paint. wear to leather belt loop. (E) .45-70 trapdoor bayonet, no scabbard. CONDITION: Good to very good. Fading to blue. Some gray showing on socket from handling. Overall a nice group of US arms. (SR) CORRECTION: Please note that Lot 1325-B, a “MS" marked 1832 pattern short sword dated 1839, is in fact a reproduction.
