Approximately 73,000 Springfield trapdoor rifles and carbines chambered in .45-70 Government were manufactured between 1873-1877. This example has the later replaced stock with a cleaning rod trapdoor in the buttplate. CONDITION: Good overall. Fairly heavy pitting on barrel. Metal is an overall brown patina. Wood is sound showing moderate use. Bore is dark. Action is tight. -MKS-
