Left side of slide marked “P38, SVW 45” followed by the serial number. Eagle/ 135 proof next to the five-pointed French star on right side of slide. The barrel is marked with English proofs on the bottom. Matching numbers on gun. Steel pressed grips. The left grip is numbered “9423”, the right panel is unnumbered. Blued “jvd” mag whose right side is marked “P38/U”. Import mark on bottom of frame. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess, Julia's 2014. CONDITION: Retains at least 98% of a refinished blue. Markings are still clear. Bright bore with sharp rifling and mild frosting. Grips have some handling marks and wear. Gun is not in working order due to the hammer being worn, resulting in the hammer dropping on slide closure. Needs to be addressed. GR
