Lot consists of: (A) Percussion pistol by William Hollis, Cheltenham 1829-1856. Octagonal barrel signed "HOLLIS CHELTENHAM". Engraved brass frame, hammer engraved en suite with scrolls. Stirrup rammer held in place with brass underrib. Steel belt hook. Finely checkered bag butt with silver lion mask buttcap. CONDITION: Good overall. Crisp action. Good bore. (B) Boxlock flintlock pistol by the well-known maker William F. Mills 1821-1844, 120 High Holborn Street. Round barrel with snap bayonet. Push-on safety. Double neck cock. Finely checkered walnut butt with silver thumbpiece. CONDITION: Considerable pitting, particularly on right side of barrel. Walnut butt with repaired crack on right towards frame and significant crack on left, not through. Good action. Snap bayonet emerges with considerable force and locks in place. Fair bore with false rifling. Good lot for the collector of English boxlock pistols. MZ
