Lot consists of: (A) Large silver mounted flintlock boxlock pistol measuring about 12" overall with a turned screw barrel. Boxlock action is scalloped and inscribed "KETLAND & CO" on the left side in a banner. There are private English view and proof marks on the bottom of the breech. Silver grotesque mask buttcap and silver wire inlaid in scrolls on the walnut grip. CONDITION: Pistol has a grey patina with scattered areas of pitting and dark spotting; engraving and markings show wear. Action is functional but weak. Most of silver wire is absent on grip. Silver retains a dark patina. (B) Percussion silver mounted pistol by Hollis. Octagonal iron barrel with engraving around muzzle. Small iron front sight and notched brass rear sight. Brass rib mounted on bottom of barrel with swivel ramrod. Barrel and brass breech are proofed with Birmingham marks. The brass action is engraved with scrolls and there is a steel belt hook mounted on the left side. Walnut grip with shaped, checkered panels; a silver lion pommel cap, and plain oval shaped silver wrist escutcheon. CONDITION: Steel components retain a spotted grey patina. Action functions properly. Brass retains a mellow patina. Grip shows some marring to checkering. Hammer screw is absent. DMG
