Luftwaffe summer "Erel" officer visor cap made in a removable ribbed white cotton with no damage and light staining throughout, with a black ribbed cotton center band with no visible damage. The silver bullion piping on the top and bottom of the center band is intact, with very light damage to a quarter inch piece on the right side. The Luftwaffe silver bullion wreath/cockade insignia is original to the cap with no visible damage and very light aging. The Luftwaffe eagle is not correct, as it consists of a standard Luftwaffe aluminum EM eagle attached to a piece of white background, which is then sewn to the cover. It appears to have been applied postwar. The black vulkanfibre visor presents some very light wear and almost indistinguishable crazing, with the underside in a medium green crosshatch pattern. The officer bullion chin cord is attached and undamaged. The tan leather sweatband in intact and has moderate age staining. An era paper tag with the size 56-1/2" is attached to the rear, and the sweatband is embossed in silver "Erel Stirnschutz, D.R.G.M., D.R.P. angem". Inside the sweatband in that same spot is a black ink stamp "56 1/2 17.April. 1940". CONDITION: Very good to excellent overall. WZ
