US Army Sextant with nomenclature plate on the bottom reading "Sextant- Bubble Type AN-5851-1". One side of the sextant is engraved and paint filled, "Geo. S. Patton General, U.S. Army". The sextant is housed in its original zippered bag with label reading "Geo. S. Patton, Jr. General U.S. Army". Both the engraving on the sextant and the printed label are doubtless original to the period. Accompanying the sextant is a letter reading, "My father, Captain Earl M. Swan, of Beverly, Massachusetts was a personal friend of General and Mrs George S. Patton. After the General's death, Mrs Patton gave the sextant to my father. (signed) Susan S. Zink, Daughter of E.M. Swan". Captain Swan was a Merchant Marine Captain during World War II. George Patton married Beatrice Banning Ayer, on May 26, 1910, in Beverly, Massachusetts. CONDITION: Instrument appears to be in very good to excellent condition, but it is not known if it is functioning. Bags zipper is broken.

Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).
GENERAL PATTON ATTRIBUTED SEXTANT WITH CASE SEXTANT.
