Rare American Library Association women's uniform consisting of: Forest green wool four-pocket tunic with matching fabric belt and composition buttons. Tunic displays a dark bronze lapel pin depicting an open book with the letters "A.L.A.". Interior with green polished cotton lining. Matching forest green wool skirt with the initials "BK" inked on the white cotton interior waistband. White cotton shirt with Mother of Pearl buttons. Green silk tie. During World War I the American Library Association provided library services to wounded soldiers and delivered books, newspapers, and magazines to more than 200 army and navy hospitals and was able to send trained librarians to 75 military hospitals to aid in the outreach. CONDITION: Overall in excellent condition with a few small period repairs.
