Standard configuration. Matching 1863 dates on the lock and barrel. Front sight and bayonet lug are modern restorations. There is an additional hole in the top of the barrel which would be covered by the rear sight. The rear sight dovetail has been freshened. The front screw hole for the rear sight is stripped. Proper rear sight is present but will not stay on the gun due to to the stripped screw hole. Also has a bayonet with matching number stamped into the back of the hilt. "FCW" stamped into the pommel. Has "US" on one side of the blade followed by a star, and a star stamped into the other side. This same star mark appears on the ends of the quillion. Also has "BH" stamped into the crossguard. Housed in a leather scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Gun has been cleaned with restorations as noted. Markings are clear. Some light pitting. Wood has been sanded with visible cartouches. There is a crack at the front of the lock as well as some plastic wood repair above the lock and in the tang area. Bore has strong rifling. Fine mechanical function. Bayonet has had the muzzle ring repaired, evidence of this bayonet being apart and put back together at some point. Markings on bayonet are questionable at best. Scabbard is solid. GR
