Marked clearly on the top of the octagon damascus barrel "W.B. BARRATT. BURTON ON TRENT.". Flip-up rear sight graduated to 150 meters. The breech opens by lifting the "bolt" handle that sets the hammer at half cock and unscrews the breech section so the barrel can tip forward. The hammer has to manually be pulled the rest of the way to full cock. The firing pin is on a hinged assembly attached to the front of the hammer. Firing pin is fairly long and needle-like. Clearly for a centerfire cartridge. Receiver has tasteful scroll engraving, with "W.B. BARRAT" in a ribbon on the left side. Steel buttplate is also engraved. Beautiful burl grain wood. Checkered wrist and forend. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina mixed with about 5% case colors on receiver. Engraving and markings are sharp. Barrel retains 40% brown with good damascus pattern and some minor light pitting. Soft scallop like rifling. Wood has some dings and handling marks. Fine mechanical function. GR
