1,001 of these carbines were produced at the end of 1865, having been delivered just after the cessation of hostilities. While none of these were delivered in time to be issued, it can still be considered a Civil War carbine. Made by E.G. Lamson of VT in 1865. Standard markings and configuration. Cartouche on left side of stock. CONDITION: Retains an even age patina overall. Some filing evident on the front of the hammer. Markings are visible, although weak with some old file marks on the lock plate. Wood has dings and handling marks with a good cartouche and inspectors marks by the buttplate tang. Stock lightly refinished, crack on the left side. Bore is very good with strong rifling and some pitting. Good mechanical function. GR
