Originally made in percussion for the Civil War, this gun was converted to cartridge for use in the Indian Wars of the 1870's period. Original six-groove rifling. Marked on the top of the barrel "NEW MODEL 1863". C prefix serial number. CONDITION: Retains 65% case colors. Barrel retains 80% thinning blue. Some light surface rust here and there. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Wood is sharp with some light dings and handling marks. There is a crack in the forend where it meets the receiver, extending past the forend retaining screw escutcheon. Fine mechanical function. GR
