Serial number 24375, manufactured in 1861, matching serial numbers on all major components including the wedge. 8" barrel, One piece walnut grips with faint inspectors cartouche on left side. Frame cut for shoulder stock, four-screw. Sub-inspection marks in appropriate places. Accompanying this gun is a proper style shoulder stock which is not matching to the gun (22567),
fits the gun well. Stock has been very cleverly aged and marked. Stamped serial numbers on buttplate, lower tang, steel catch are all matching. Handwritten ink serial number under buttplate is matching to metal. CONDITION: Overall bare metal with a light grey patina. Grips are rounding at the butt. Action works well, however will not hold at full cock. No surviving safety pins. Left stock screw is missing from frame of gun. Some replacement screws. Bore in good showing moderate pitting. Stock has dings and handling marks, wood having been refinished. Brass has a cleaned look to it, matching the brass color on gun. GR
