Made by J.H.Johnston of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania circa 1850. Full octagon rifled barrel signed in script "J.H. Johnston" with rifle sights. Full curly maple stock with brass furniture including four piece "Q" finial patchbox, four coin silver inlays (including a cheekpiece eagle) and Johnston's typical incised carving pattern behind the cheekpiece. Handmade percussion lock with high spur hammer and controlled by single trigger. Comes with research on the gunmaker. CONDITION: Overall fair condition with several areas of wood repair including the wrist and out along the forestock. Metal surfaces have aged pitting from use. Mechanics function fine. Wood has been cleaned. DLM
