Rare Remington No.1 in an "off-hand" Schuetzen configuration. Total production of these rifles is unknown due to lack of Remington records or early advertising. Pictured on page 199 of the book "Remington Rolling Block Rifles, Carbines, & Shotguns / Sporting and Target Rifles by Roy Marcot. This rare rifle has a 32 - 1/4" full heavy octagon barrel. No barrel marking other than on bottom flat marked "40 1 7/8". Deluxe grade checkered, pistol grip stock with Schuetzen style buttplate. Forearm with steel tip, fitted for a palm rest. Single set trigger. Remington short-range vernier tang sight, spirit level front sight. Blue with case hardened receiver. CONDITION: Very good overall with 85-90% original blue on barrel with scattered corrosion overall. Receiver a grey/brown patina overall. Stock is cracked at the wrist with an old repair. Missing rear barrel sight. Bore is excellent. Missing palm rest. Overall an attractive example of a rare Remington target rifle. -MKS-
