Primary single shot military pistol made by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut. Used circa 1820, this gun has a flint lock dated 1821 and marked with "S. North U. S. Midl Conn.". Lock has brass pan and safety lock. Steel smoothbore barrel with "DJ" "P" and "US" proofmarks at rear of barrel. Iron hardware with attached ramrod and walnut proofmarked stock (illegible). CONDITION: Metal parts fading to a silvery patina. Wood has hand rubbed finish with no visible restoration. Gun appears to be original flint with good mechanics. DLM
