After WWII Yugoslavia used former German machinery to manufacture a near identical version of the MG42, known as the M53. The M53 and other MG42 variations continue to see widespread use today, over 70 years after the MG42's initial implementation into military service during WWII. These M53 semi-automatic rifles were made from new US manufactured receivers and imported Yugoslavian parts. The left side of the receiver is marked "WISE LITE ARMS/ BOYD, TX/ MOD. AJM53/ WLA28-6867/ 8MM MAUSER". Top cover is marked with the Yugoslavian crest and former serial number. Bipod, rear sight, and barrel release hatch have accumulated some rust and should be cleaned. Complete with MG3 tripod, Hensoldt Wetzlar 4x tripod periscope optic, two optic lights, an ammo can of 8mm Mauser links, and an armorers kit. CONDITION: Metal components retain majority of reapplied finish, with areas of rust that should clean up easily. Bore retains strong rifling throughout. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. MG3 tripod is very good, showing only minor cosmetic wear. Hensoldt Wetzlar periscope optic is very good, showing no hazing or scratches to the lenses. Top rubber lens cap shows age cracking and has two small tears. Overall, an nice example of a Yugoslavian M53 that would be sure to please any MG42 enthusiast at the range. MW
