These extremely fine and well made guns are perhaps the epitome of sleek design when it comes to a side by side shotgun. The 29" Damascus barrels with Damascus top rib marked "John Dickson & Son 63 Princes Street Edinburgh" have steel front bead and light scroll engraving at breech ends. There is a small ring of engraving at breech ends of barrels. Barrel lumps with proof marks and marked "CHOKE". Splinter forend with Anson push button release is near fully checkered with diamond pattern at center with scroll engraved iron. Case hardened, slim, round bodied, trigger plate, ejector action features automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid), and double triggers. Action is engraved with classic full scroll coverage with "John Dickson" on sides in a well executed banner. The stunning richly figured straight grip buttstock is checkered in a two point pattern through the wrist with gold oval near the toe and terminates with a modern black leather covered pad. The gun is housed in a beautiful period oak and leather case with makers label on inside of lid which has snap caps, oil bottle, and cleaning rod. CONDITION: Excellent as partially restored. Barrels retain nearly all of their fine restored Damascus pattern. Stocks have been expertly restored, checkering is crisp. Action has toned to silver, but engraving remains crisp. Mechanics are crisp. Bores are excellent. Case with restored fabric is very good with leather beginning to dry and straps are contemporary. These are delightful guns with beautiful workmanship and this is a wonderful example. JSL
