8" round barrel with Colt New York address. Six shot .44 caliber rebated cylinder with battle scene. Case hardened frame cut for shoulder stock. One piece walnut grips. Government sub-inspector stamps on cylinder and backstrap. Matching serial numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. Manufactured in 1863. Accompanying revolver is a Colt factory letter documenting shipment to United States Government Commanding Officer, New York Arsenal, Governor's Island, New York on June 25, 1863, in a shipment of 1,000 guns. Oddly, the frame of this revolver does not have a U.S. stamp or any primary inspection cartouches on grips or other components. CONDITION: Good overall with no original finishes remaining. Overall a smooth dove grey patina. Oil finished grips are excellent showing minimum wear. Action is relatively tight and crisp. Bore is good with moderate pitting. -MKS-
