Late 19th to early 20th century. Austria. The square box with stylized bronze trim cast with classical finials and rope-twist borders. The hinged lid with a porcelain panel depicting two women clad in classical dress, framed within floral sprays, reading. The four side panels each with landscapes framed by floral garlands, the front depicting two similar young women reclining on a floral-strewn ground, conversing. The box raised on stylized dolphin legs with ball feet. Condition: Generally very good, some roughness around edges of porcelain plaque at escutcheon. Size: 6" T. x 9" square.
