The mark of John Roberts and Company, Sheffield. This basket, decorated with a Greek key pattern around the edge beneath a bellflower band, the pierced sides ornamented with classical masks above crossed sheaths of wheat, alternating with oval devices draped with drapery, all joined by swags. The hinged handle pierced and decorated with bellflowers continuing to an s-scrolled handle base of leaf tips. The beneath the basket are four hallmarks, including the marks of John Roberts, a lion passant, a crown and what is believed to be an Irish harp. Size: 11 - 1/2" T. x 14 - 1/2" L. x 11 - 1/2" W. Condition: Very good with some minor dimpling in the base of the basket. 44 t oz.
