Meiji Period. Japan. The first figure, depicting a scholar with flowing robes and beard, holding a fruit in his left hand. The second, a bearded elder with flowing robes, holding a rake. The third, a figure dressed in robes wearing a headband and carrying a broom. The two netsukes include a seated figure holding flowers and an ink-heightened second figure with a ladle and water gourd, carved with a long goatee or beard and wearing a cap. Each of the netsukes is signed. Size: Three larger carvings 3 - 1/2" to 6" T., netsukes 2" to 2 - 1/2" T. Condition: Very good to excellent with undisturbed patina. Four of the figures are posed on hardwood stands.
