Made by John Shell of West Hanover, Pennsylvania and dated on the top of the barrel "1864" and stamped "John Shell No. 415". Full octagon smoothbore barrel with rifle sights. Original percussion lock marked "Henry Parker Warranted" controlled by a single trigger. Brass lockplate marked "No. 415". Full curly maple stock with 5 engraved German silver inlays including a "Man in the Moon" inlay on the cheek. Brass engraved furniture including a fine engraved capbox, saddleplate, and barrel escutcheons. Original hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good condition with an overall uncleaned dark patina finish. No visible restoration or repairs. Small visemarks near and around breech. Mechanically solid. A nice clean Kentucky by a good maker. DLM
