Lot consists of: four swords and scabbards, 1902 pattern, three with steel hilts, one with brass. All identified by inscriptions. (A) Presentation engraved on scabbard and name etched on blade for Lt. Charles Henry Barnum Co. K 23rd NYNG, dated December 7, 1911 on the scabbard. Ridabock maker address on reverse ricasso. CONDITION: Excellent. Dark guard and muted scabbard mounts, but bright blade with vivid etching highlighted in gold wash. (B) Non-regulation brass hilt with oval panel in counteguard. Engraved presentation on scabbard, with engraved floral elements, and etched blade with name and unit. Presented to Col. Merton Cheesman of the Bristol Train of Artillery by his friends in the A. & H. A. Co.: Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, October 2, 1910. Harding Uniform and Regalia Co. maker etched. CONDITION: Excellent. Some little speckling coming up on reverse of scabbard. (C) Standard configuration, with gold and black sword knot. Initials L.M.W. nicely engraved on back strap. Scabbard with inscription to Capt. Lucien M. Wiler 2nd Infantry. Co. E dated 1903. This would seem to be PA National Guard. CONDITION: Excellent. One light spot on brown wood grips. Slight shrinkage gap under backstrap obverse. Bright blade and etching. (D) Standard configuration. Presentation on scabbard to Lt. Myron Taub by 535rd A.A. December 4, 1938. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bright blade with standard motifs, but some dark spots and freckling to plating on blade and grey to scabbard. SR
