Manufactured 1906. Manufactured for Portugal under contract for an estimated 1000 guns. Pattern 1906 with grip safety, 4" barrel, chambered for 9mm and produced without stock lug. Blue finish with straw appointments and checkered walnut grips. Script DWM on toggle with chamber marked with Royal Portuguese Navy crest. Left side of upper is proofed with the "MARINA PORTUGUESE" (MP) proof. Serial numbered 69 found on frame, barrel upper lower bolster, trigger, toggle, bolt, side plate and retainer. Grips safety is numbered "64" and is probably a factory error or armory mix. Extractor marked "CARREGADA". Magazine is nickel finished sheet metal with blank wood base. Grips are a contemporary replacement made exactly like the originals. CONDITION: Fair with finish being a mixture of blue and patina with light salt & pepper pitting from being exposed to the sea service elements. Bore is very good with sharp lands and grooves. Straw finish is 1/2 remaining with mixture of patina. Grips are excellent as previously mentioned. Survival of these firearms are very low with the highest recorded example being number 769 and the number of reported known examples is extremely low. TDW
