Both barrels have patent hooked breeches and turned cannon muzzles. Both barrels are inlaid with silver birds and foliate motifs as well as the makers names and date "1853". The back action locks are finely engraved with scrolls and birds. Extremely fine griffin-form hammers, which are pierced and chased with detail. Both with finely engraved iron furniture. Complete with their original brass tipped ramrods with steel tips. Walnut stocks with checkered panels on grips. CONDITION: Barrels retain a gray patina, silver is unpolished. Locks retain a matching gray patina and show some areas of minor pitting. Both function well. Furniture shows crisp engraving and a matching patina. Stocks very good with some minor staining and light storage marks. A very ornate and attractive pair of dated Spanish pistols. DG
