Octagonal barrel signed on top flat "Rigby, Dublin", buckhorn rear sight with diminutive front sight, barrel held in place by two keys. Original flintlock signed "Rigby" with dot engraving at rear of lock, and florals engraved at rearmost step of lock. Gold touch hole. Roller frizzen. Tang engraved with florals. Left side with a silver oval depicting a a pheasant with an olive branch in its mouth over a set of initials, appears to be HC. Checkered rounded butt with single flattened line through checkering. Trigger guard engraved with florals and an added spur, appears period, and pineapple finial. Set trigger. Buttcap with florals. Horn tip ramrod, appears to be an old replacement, held in place by two steel ferrules. Pistol has a blue ribbon announcing that it won First premium at the New Mexico State Fair. CONDITION: Very good, cleaned to a smooth gunmetal color over very old pitting. Action works properly when operated by hand, bore is very good with light brown oxidation throughout. Striking face of pan shows evidence of use. Wood has numerous pressure marks, dents, and nicks, primarily on left side, and some added varnish. Right side of stock has a 1" crack near barrel. An elegant and extremely attractive pistol made by Rigby at the Dublin location. EW
