Documented by Winchester with a Buffalo Bill Historical Center letter dated March 14, 2000. Winchester Model 1873 Rifle, serial number 6092, was shipped August 5, 1875 with a 32" full octagon barrel, full magazine, and set trigger with engraved barrel. First Model 1873 rifles are rarely found with any special features and a 32" extra length barrel with engraving is one of the rarest of all possible configurations. Blue finish barrel, tube, and receiver, with case colored hammer, lever, and crescent butt plate with trap for cleaning rod. Fitted with nickel blade front sight and Buckhorn rear sight. Thumbprint dust cover. Engraved at muzzle, retaining band, forend tip, and chamber in broad scroll and vine with dot punch background. CONDITION: This rifle has been expertly restored to its factory new condition by Turnbull Restorations on April 23rd of 2004. The work is outstanding and the the blue and case colors are indiscernible from original finishes. The walnut stocks are as new and refreshed by Turnbull restorations. This unbelievably rare rifle would be easily the centerpiece of any Winchester collection. TDW
