Blade measures 28-5/8" with a single unstopped fuller. Single strand copper wire on leather wrapped grip. Cast into the bottom of the guard is "BOYLE GAMBLE & MACFEE/ RICHMOND/ VA". Has the 4 "V" marking forming a cross of sorts on the right side of the blade, the meaning of which is unknown but is noted on other swords of this pattern. Maker marked Confederate swords are difficult to come by, especially Boyle, Gamble & MacFee products. No scabbard. CONDITION: Hilt is tight. Sword retains a pleasing patina overall. Blade is dark with areas of light rust and pitting. Brass has a pleasing dark color to it. Markings are clear. Wire is intact as is the leather wrap, which shows some wear but is solid. GR
