The Colt 1902 is a unique model that was developed by John Browning and later produced under Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company. The 1902 was designed to be an improvement on their 1900 model. There were two different variants under the 1902 model which were Military and Sporting. This particular pistol is the Military variant as it has a mechanical slide stop, spur hammer, and a lanyard loop on the heel of the grip. The grip panels are hard rubber and they are embossed with the word "COLT" and with the Rampant Colt motif encircled in the middle. The left side of the slide reads, "PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902 COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO. HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A. with the Rampant Colt insignia behind the slide serration. Pistol comes with one magazine with pinned bottom reading "COLT .38CAL". The firearm maintains the beautiful high polish blue finish that Colt is known for. Both rear and front sights are rounded. CONDITION: Overall a very solid and lightly used pistol. 80%-85% original factory blue finish with light wear/pitting on top of slide towards serration as well as the front of grip on frame. There is also a small ring of wear from where the lanyard loop rubs. The barrel maintains decent rifling and small scratches on the feed ramp. The front of the slide towards the bore axis shows some sign of light wear as well. All of the parts are in excellent working order with tight tolerances and timing. SS
