To save on cost of ammunition and recoil management the Colt Ace was born. This firearm is chambered in .22 LR which allowed military and civilians to shoot their 1911 platform with far less expense and recoil compared to their .45 ACP counterpart. The pistol comes with the traditional checkered walnut grips, blade front sight and adjustable notch rear sight. The barrel of this firearm is constructed with a hinged floating rear chamber which amplifies the recoil to help assist in cycling the slide. The left side of the firearm reads, "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. PAT'D APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9. 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14. 1911. AUG. 19. 1913." To the right of the two line block text and before the serration is the Rampant Colt insignia. The right side of the slide reads, "Colt Ace .22 Long Rifle." The magazine has a pinned base and a two-tone temper line. CONDITION: Nice firearm with 80%-85% original blue finish remaining. All checkered patterns on plug, hammer, trigger front, slide lock, magazine release, and section underneath grip safety retain great texture. Right grip panel has two small dents and two small black spots . Plunger tube has heavy wear with the remainder of pistol showing light signs of use especially toward the front of slide and front of grip frame. Small nicks throughout slide and frame. Barrel maintains sharp rifling and all parts are in excellent working order and timed tightly. SS
