Built by John Moses Browning 1878-circa 1883, this was Browning's first successful design. This gun features a full octagon blued barrel with blade front sight and adjustable rear sight with "Browning Bros Ogden, Utah USA" on top barrel flat and number "525" at rear near chamber. Chamber caliber .45 on barrel flat is blocked by extra added sight dovetail. Case hardened falling block action. Walnut wood stock with crescent steel buttplate. Stock has initials "WC" on both sides of the stock. Walnut forearm with hardwood ramrod and iron pipes holding rod. CONDITION: Barrel blue has faded to brown with pitting and bore is poor. Action has pitting and is brown color. Wood has been cleaned and front forearm is a possible replacement. Good mechanically. A chance to own a rare rifle with only a few hundred estimated to exist.
