Lot consists of: (A) Made by John Moses Browning in Ogden, Utah. This Model 1878 features full octagon blued barrel marked "116" with blade front sight and adjustable rear. Case hardened action with breech block marked "J.M. Browning Ogden, U.T.". Walnut wood checkered pistol grip stock with steel buttplate and German silver pistol grip cap. Checkered walnut forearm with slotted screw fastener. CONDITION: Barrel fading to gray with pitting. Shootable bore and good mechanics. Wood has oil soaked appearance with checkering wore flat with small wood shrinkage. Forearm checkering wore flat with crack in tip. (B) Browning Model 1878 with blued octagon rifled barrel marked " Browning Bros Ogden, Utah USA, Pat Oct 7, 79, 40-70, 503". Case hardened action with scalloped top. Walnut figured grain pistol grip checkered stock with ebony grip inlay and steel crescent buttplate. Walnut plain forearm. CONDITION: Barrel blue fading to a plum color with light pitting. Action has faded to a silvery patina. Shootable bore and good mechanics. Wood has traces of original finish with small crack in forearm and dings and scratches in buttstock. DLM
