Lot consists of: (A) Made by John Moses Browning 1878-circa 1883 in Ogden, Utah. Gun has blued octagonal rifled barrel marked "Browning Bros Ogden, Utah, USA, Pat Oct 7, 1879, 45-100 and 407". German silver blade front sight with rear adjustable sight. Case hardened action. Walnut wood stock with crescent steel buttplate. Walnut forearm with slotted screw fastener. CONDITION: Barrel has overall pitted appearance with poor bore. Action has pitting and has brown color. Good mechanics. Wood has dry out weathered look and some shrinkage causing stock to be loose. Gun has been used hard and shows it. (B) Browning Brothers Model 1878 with blued rifled barrel marked "Browning Bros Ogden, Utah USA, Pat Oct 7, 1879, 40-70 and 410". German silver front sight with rear adjustable sight. Case hardened action. Walnut wood stock with crescent steel buttplate. Walnut forearm with fastening screw. CONDITION: Barrel has pitted appearance with readable markings. Bore is poor. Wood has weathered look with pin repair to wrist of stock. Forearm is weathered with exposed grain. Gun has good mechanics. Both guns exhibit heavy use but are still very hard items to find with only several hundred known to exist. DLM
