First half 18th century or earlier. The square panel woven in shades of blue, green and brown with grapevine and floral border, a rooster in each upper corner, a fox in each lower corner. The tableau depicting chateau at the center in the middle distance, framed by densely treed foliate landscape. A meandering stream with wooden bridge is in the foreground with a pair of deer on the shore. Two fighting cocks in the center foreground challenge each other. The tapestry has a blue fabric backing and is fitted with reinforced loops for hanging by rod. Professionally mended and restored, reinforced where appropriate. The tapestry shows exceptionally well, exhibiting little or no blemishes. The fabric backing has not been removed for inspection. Overall appearance is very good.
