Standard issue Indian Wars Trapdoor rifle. Features two barrel bands, post front sight, 1884 rear sight, "VP" proof on right side of barrel, block dated 1878, non-dated Springfield eagle on sideplate. Walnut stock has no visible cartouche marks. CONDITION: All legends are sharp but metal is basically a soft brown patina and no original finish. Stock has usual bumps and bruises. Rifling is visible but has powder ring, residue and is dark but might clean better. Serial number very worn and only slightly visible. Comes with an original period one frog sling.
