1903 Springfield bolt action rifle with sling and bayonet. Serial number dates this gun to 1915. Sedgley barrel is "U.S.M.C" marked and is dated "9-42". Buttplate is smooth and stempled, making this a probable "Marine Corp" rifle. Correct "Hatcher" hole on the right side as well. Straight grip stock with no finger grooves. Stock has no U.S. acceptance stamps and shows signs of an arsenal repair forward of the magazine disconnect. Sling is unmarked, but is period correct. Springfield Armory bayonet dated 1907 with a Rock Island Arsenal scabbard. CONDITION: Overall good. Metal retains 75% of its original finish with light wear and patina in areas. Stock is very good with light handling marks. Bore is dark with fair rifling left. Sling is well worn and is losing its color. Bayonet is well worn with no real edge. Scabbard solid, but shows signs of a wear and use. Overall, a nice 1903 rifle for your collection. JA
