Built in 2003. An exquisite pair of 16 bore, pinless sidelocks with 30" demi-block steel rust blued barrels, flat and smooth topped narrow ribbed game guns. Both sets of barrels feature 2 – 3/4" chambers and ejectors with Improved Cylinder and Improved Cylinder chokes. The tops of the barrels on left side read “E.J. CHURCHILL, LONDON, ENGLAND”. Barrels are also engraved with floral scroll near breech. Barrel flats have standard London proofs. Coin finished action with lovely floral scroll, game scenes and “E.J. Churchill” in gold through a ribbon. Locks are handsomely adorned with flying quail and pheasants through wooded pastures. Action bottom is also engraved with scroll and with a hunting dog in each vignette and with “E.J. CHURCHILL” above dog and “PREMIERE” below dog. Engravers initials “PC” and year of manufacture appear just ahead of trigger guard, these being the initials of master engraver, Peter Cusack who was Chuchill’s master. Automatic safety. The single mechanical trigger is case colored and is protected by a double rolled edge trigger guard which is fully scroll engraved on its exterior and handsomely color case hardened on its interior. The trigger guard also extends itself to through the nicely figured slender Prince of Wales pistol grips which also have black grip caps. The straight grained European walnut stocks are red/brown in color reminiscent of a traditional Purdey stock coloration, stock oval bearing the initials “GLY” in fancy script. Both have finely checkered butts, matching grip and forends. Both guns have slender round game forends with fine line checkering and Anson push button release. Action flats, breeches, and forend iron all nicely case colored to match trigger and interior of trigger guard. Guns are cased in a custom Americase with a pair of snap caps. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 98% original blue with very little signs of use if at all. Ejectors work and are timed nicely. Actions are clean and tight. Stocks are near mint with little signs of use with only some handling marks. Forends are of equal great condition. Americase also in excellent condition. CP
