Western shipped, early Hartford Model 1874 Sporting Rifle. .50 caliber. 30" heavy weight octagon barrel. Straight grain walnut stock and forearm with Hartford pewter tip. Military style buttplate. Double set triggers. Fold down ladder rear barrel sight and German Silver blade front sight. Provision for sling mount on buttstock. Accompanying rifle is a Sharps archival letter dated May 17,1978 from Dr. R.L. Moore. Letter documents configuration and shipment to N. Curry & Brothers, San Francisco, California on March 27, 1873. Sales price was $42.00. CONDITION: Above average for a Western shipped .50 caliber sporting rifle. Fine with a brown overall patina. Stock is excellent showing modest wear. Forearm is solid with a few dents and bruises. Bore is near excellent with moderate abrasion. Action is tight and crisp. Overall a very fine and colorful Western shipped and early Model 1874 Sharps Rifle -MKS-
