1880 vintage Model 1876. Chambered in .50 Winchester Express. Special ordered 26" tapered octagon barrel. Button magazine tube. Blue with case hardened frame, lever, hammer, and rifle style crescent buttplate. Straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Standard sights and trigger. Dust cover marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS .50 CAL 95 GRS." Barrel breech marked ".50 CAL." on top flat. Trapdoor in buttplate with cleaning rod. CONDITION: Excellent overall. 95% original thinning blue on barrel. 80-85% dark case colors on frame. 45-50% case color on hammer and lever. Bore is excellent and bright. Action is tight and crisp. Wood is excellent with inscription crudely scratched on left side of stock that reads "CASPER MNT. WYOMING TER. SHOT GRIZZLY AUG 27 1884 7 FT TIP TO TIP WT. ESTIMATED 600 LBS." left side of forearm has initials "AQ" scratched in like fashion. A "V" notch is carved on toe of stock comb. Overall a very interesting and colorful Western Winchester. -MKS-
